As a new mom, the last thing you’re probably thinking about is your own skincare. But every mama out there deserves to have healthy, glowing skin without taking a lot of time out of her packed day. We’re here to tell you three easy steps that will keep your skin glowing and soft that aren’t difficult to do, expensive or harmful to your baby.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
Drinking more water is not only important for breastfeeding and staying physically healthy – it’s also the most important piece of taking care of our skin! Focus on drinking a 16oz glass of warm water with lemon in the morning before the newborn baby duties kick in to hydrate your body (and your skin!) plus help your body detox naturally. Warm lemon water has also been shown to help with digestion, weight loss and freshening breath (in case you forgot to get to that step before the baby started crying!)
Continue to hydrate as much as you can throughout the day by keeping a cute water bottle in arms reach while feeding the baby or adding some fruit to your water as a nice refreshing treat while you have some relaxing time while the baby is sleeping.
Don’t Skip Washing Your Face
You may be rolling your eyes at us right now, but hear us out! The worst thing to do for your skin is to leave any residual makeup or grime on your face from the day. It clogs your pores and can be bad for signs of aging on your skin.
Taking 5 minutes to really cleanse your face and put on a hydrating serum (that tip is up next!) is not only good for your skin, but your mental health as well. We know that moms are so incredibly busy, but stepping away while the baby is sleeping to wash your face before bed will give you a few minutes of “me-time” that’s helping your skin out, too!
Use a Hydrating, Organic Facial Serum to Lock in Moisture
Time to lock in that moisture that you’ve been creating all day with a hydrating facial serum. We love our Heal + Glow Facial Serum for busy moms because it’s a quick, reliable hydrating skincare option. The serum is easy to apply and low maintenance while also powerfully hydrating your skin.
The cold-pressed Moringa oil in the Heal + Glow Facial Serum gives your skin a superfood boost and provides nutrients to instantly take your skin to a new level of soft and smooth. This product works on your skin overnight so there’s no extra work for you – you just wake up with super hydrated skin!
Use an Air Purifier and Humidifier to Help Hydrate Dry Skin
Heaters and air conditioners contribute to drying out the air in your home which also means dry skin! Using a humidifier adds moisture to the air, helping to give you soft, hydrated skin overnight. There are so many additional benefits to having a humidifier and air purifier in your home, especially as a mom to a newborn; newborns are obligate nasal breathers, meaning they breathe through their nose for the first 4-6 months, so humidifiers will help your newborn to breathe easier through their nose for some extra ZzZz’s.
Taking care of yourself and your skin will not only make YOU feel better, but it will radiate into every part of your life. Setting yourself up with healthy routines will be a great lesson for your children as they grow – remember, you’re the best example of not only radiant, beautiful skin but also overall health!
