Why Do I Need a Humidifier

Humidity is a wonderful thing. It provides so many benefits that we often don’t think or know about. Wow your friends – and your doctor for that matter- with these great humidifier factoids.

Dry Air – Both heaters and air conditioners contribute to drying out the air in your home. Using a humidifier adds moisture to the air. This helps to reduce dry skin, nose bleeds and itchy eyes. It also helps prevent wood from splitting, wallpaper from peeling and doors from contracting. Regardless of if you’re preparing for winter or summer, humidifiers are a home must have.

Cough & Cold – Dry cough, runny nose and congestion are symptoms we have all struggled with while having a cold or the flu. Humidity assists with both relief while you are sick and helps to prevent future illness by daily use. Adding humidity helps to open up airways and relieve congestion helping you to breathe easier and sleep better giving your body the energy to fight off colds and the flu.

Our Little Bundles of Joy – Newborns are obligate nasal breathers, meaning they breathe through their nose for the first 4-6 months. Humidifiers help clear newborns’ congestion so they breathe easier, sleep better and feed with less frustration. Newborns also lose moisture in their skin twice as fast as adults. Humidifiers help newborns retain that moisture to keep their skin baby soft.

Fur Babies – Our pets benefit from humidity just as much as we do! Whether they have fur or feathers, dogs, cats and birds can suffer from dry skin when the air is dry. Pets can also suffer from cold symptoms like dry coughs. Humidifiers help to relieve the dryness in their airways and relieve this cough. Please please just as you would for yourself, if conditions persists, please consult your veterinarian.

Snoring – Do you snore? Don’t worry – we’re not here to judge, we’re here to help! Snoring is caused by many different factors including congestion or tightening of your airways. Using a humidifier while you sleep can help to make breathing easier by relieving congestion.

The Show Must Go On – Every musician, vocalist and performer can benefit from using a humidifier for themselves and for their instruments. Humidifiers help to keep your airways clear, strong and healthy to always stay on pitch. Using a humidifier to maintain a consistent humidity level in the room where you keep your wood instruments can help prevent cracking from dry air and keep them in top shape.
